Fillers

I use temporary fillers containing Hyaluronic Acid to enhance the features of some patients. I do not use permanent fillers. Temporary fillers last about 12 months.

Common areas where I perform the procedure include the nose bridge, chin, laugh lines (nasolabial folds), cheeks, temple areas, lips. The amount I use depends on the degree of “hollowness” and patient`s requirements.

The Hyaluronic Acid (HA) comes in different viscosities and I use use different types for different areas. For example, nose bridge enhancement would require a more viscous filler with more cross-linked chains of the HA to achieve a more 3D effect. I also use one which has local anaesthetic already mixed in by the manufacturer so it would be less painful for the patient. Me or my assistant would also help you “mould” the HA into shape immediately after the injection. However it takes about a week for the HA to get “fixed”.

The side- effects including bruising and lumpiness which can be mitigated by massage and moulding. Potential serious side effects can occur if the filler is injected into an artery or a tight space causing compression necrosis. Hence there are certain areas I would not recommend injecting. Some patients may require numbing cream beforehand for the procedure despite the local anaesthetic included in the filler. I would also recommend ice-ing the skin area before the injection.
